GETTING INVOLVED
  GAY & LESBIAN CATHOLICS

GAY AND LESBIAN PARISHIONERS, FRIENDS AND ALL INTERESTED PERSONS are invited for an informal coffee hour in the rectory on the second Sunday of each month from 10:15 to 11:15 am. This is an opportunity for prayer, discussion and enrichment. (The rectory can be entered through the sacristy door near the baptismal font at the front of the church.) The GLBT Catholic Group at St. Joseph's also meets for discussion and dialogue concerning issues that impact our faith as gay Catholics, and has several social activities throughout the year. Please contact Larry Litman (NYCark@aol.com) for more information.

Lesbians and Gay men are an important part of St. Joseph's Parish. The Gay and Lesbian Catholic Group has been meeting for 11 years in the rectory living room between the Sunday morning Masses. In addition to coffee and fellowship, these gatherings are a forum for discussion and dialogue concerning issues particular to this community that impact our faith as gay Catholics. The Gay and Lesbian Catholic Group also sponsors lectures and an annual PRIDE weekend Mass with an AIDS Memorial Service.

"Homosexuals, like everyone else, should not suffer from prejudice against their basic human rights. They have a right to respect, friendship and justice. They should have an active role in the Christian community" (U.S. Bishops, To Live in Christ Jesus, 1976)
